The image above shows fractions divided into columns. The first column contains fractions that are closest to zero, the second column contains fractions that are closest to half, the third column contains fractions that are closest to whole and the last column contains fractions that are can not go in any of the previous columns. one of the hardest fractions to order was 1/3 because it may seem that it fit's into the closer to 0 column but know, 1/3 is closer two half because 1.5 is half of three so it is only a 0.5 away from half but 1 away from zero.
You have explained this activity well and I like the way you have been reflective about which fraction was the hardest to sort. I do understand your explanation about 1/3 - do you think others will get it? Another way to demonstrate 1/3 is closer to half could be to show it as a diagram (like a piece of pizza).
