2016 year reflection

My favorite parts of the year include all the EOCT activities we have done and I enjoy all the activities the teachers set for us because they make them really fun. I got better in all areas (maths, writing, reading excreta) because I challenged my self and didn't give up. The Chromebook this year is a new experience for all but for me I think learning with the Chromebooks isn't any better or any worse, but it also lets me be more creative with my learning witch is why I find it interesting. I really enjoyed experimenting with the Chromebook and finding out what it could do, some of my discoveries where called: scratch,  stop motion animator, but I found heaps more than that.    

Overnight camp

Last week Ruma J went on an overnight camp in lake kaniere lodge my favorite part was when we had a pillow fight and I thought it was interesting that the lodge had THREE stories here is a recount video of the experience.

Bottle top art project.

For this year we have been doing an art protect. At school we had a garden with a bear fence around it so Ms G and Ms H decided to brighten it up. So our first idea at the start of the year was to paint flowers on to the fence, then Ms H thought that bottle tops would be a great idea and we all agreed. We started looking at pictures and videos for inspiration we also thought we should make it so that our bottle top art related to the garden because we were decorating the garden fence. Then we started coming up with ideas about what our art would look like my idea was a kea. after that Ms H measured out paper that would be the same size as the plywood boards that we would stick the bottle tops on to so that we could plan our design the exact size that it would be. So after that we sketched our design on to the paper. once we had finished planning our design we painted the plywood boards so generously given to us by IPL for FREE. There were four different color paints we painted the boards with they were: orange, green, blue and black. After the boards were painted we started to glue the bottle tops on. Once we had done that we started to draw zentangle around our design. We had then finished here is my final product.

After we had done our own design the year fives and sixes did the created bottle top art in groups with the rest of the school Toby and sky were in my group and we made a kiwi here is there final product.

My favorite part was when we glued the bottle tops to the boards it was my favorite part because it was the most active part. My least favorite part would have to be planning our design. The most interesting part probably was the finding all the right bottle tops for our piece of art.

Overall I think this bottle top art project was fun, enjoyable and a really good idea!

Rad Rhythm-pots and pans

                                           

Last week and the week before we were doing drum sequences to enter a competition that Rad Rhythm was hosting. Rad Rhythm is a company that teaches kids to drum. I did my sequence with Jaymin. sadly I was sick on the day and Jaymin could not make it the  next day so I did not get to enter. When me and Jaymin were coming up with sequences we named the pots. the muffin tin was D, the big pot was A, the small pot was B and the tiny cake tin was C. Since we named the pots we could record our sequence on paper EG, A C A A C.

On Friday 4th of November we went sailing on our lake.

 On Friday 4th of November we went sailing on our lake. I thought it was really fun and the instructors covered everything we needed to know. I learnt how to flip the boat the right way round if it capsized and I got a lot better at turning/tacking. We split into two groups to do the sailing the beginner group went in the morning and the more experienced group went in the afternoon, I went in the more experienced group. Overall I really enjoyed it and I would like to do it again.

company logos

At school we have been learning about money. We have been using an online banking website called Banqer. We have come up with a company to earn us regular salary. We have also come up with logos for our company. My company's logo can be seen above. My company came up with our design by having a vote. All the members of space chimps created a logo then we got the class to vote. I won the vote so you can see my idea above. My company is a cleaning one, we clean dirt and chairs of the floor and stones of the court. We choose red orange and yellow to catch the eye and to present the fact that we are powerful.

                             This is a trading game walk up to the other man to trade with him.

WALT: sorting fractions.

The image above shows fractions divided into columns. The first column contains fractions that are closest to zero, the second column contains fractions that are closest to half, the third column contains fractions that are closest to whole and the last column contains fractions that are can not go in any of the previous columns. one of the hardest fractions to order was 1/3 because it may seem that it fit's into the closer to 0 column but know, 1/3 is closer two half because 1.5 is half of three so it is only a 0.5 away from half but 1 away from zero.

We have been learning about fractions this is a 6 by 6 grid divided into fractions. The dark blue covers 12 squares witch is one third of this grid of 36, also Each patch of light blue covers 6 squares, one sixth or 2 twelfths of 36. The patches of yellow cover one twelfth of the grid and any patch of light blue combined with the patch of dark blue is one half of the grid 18 squares.

Saint john visit.

This week Denise from Saint Johns came to our school to teach us about about what Saint John does. I learnt how to do CPR and about the recovery position I also learnt about her tools and experiences. My favorite part was when we played the Joe game. The Joe game is a game were we make a list of some things we would take on a tramp we had round about 5 minutes to do this. After that someone reads a story about Joe and his friends going on a tramp paragraph by paragraph. in the second paragraph Joe gets hypothermia and in all the paragraphs after that it keeps getting worse and we have to keep Joe alive with the things on the

yesterday my class and me did a brainstorm on well being. A well being is what makes you, you for example you might be a very good athlete It means that your physical well being must be very strong. Our  was divided into four parts the physical well being, emotional well being, social well being and spiritual well being. Then today we started to make a whare/house representing the four well beings on its four walls. we only got the walls today you can see my walls above the well beings on them are ordered emotional then spiritual then social and then physical.        

Line graphs.

This is a line graph showing the average rainfall every month. A line graph is a graph that shows information with dots inline with two marks on the sides of the graph depending on there value. these dots are joined up by lines giving this graph it's name.     

Ski trip

p I like how my instructor was really flexible because I think I might have chosen a lesson that was to easy but the instructor made it a bit harder.I really like how the year 4-8s go skiing every year and I really look forward to going next year because it is so much fun and I learn so much!
m the only thing that wasn't so good would have to be the speed of the poma and the magic carpet because it went so slow and the magic carpet stops a lot.
i It was interesting how there were not many keas hanging around the car park. I also think it was interesting how it snowed wile we were there.

next time I go I am deferentially going to go up the chairlift and I will hopefully go even higher than that.

Over all I think it was worth it to go skiing this year!

Bowl a fact

Today my maths group played bowl a fact. I got all the numbers except 1 and I recon the hardest one to get that I did get would be three what I had to do was cube 4  then subtract 6 squared then divide it by 4 the answer was 3.

WALT investigate sound

Learning back strum.

                                                            

         

Today we learned how to play back strum. It was hard at first but then you get the hang of it and then you just can't stop. After you learn how to do it you can also come up with cool patterns like the one at the end of the video. Back strum is done after you have strummed down, all you do is just strum back up using  your thumbnail.

On the eighth of June me Tylar and Lucy investigated sound with four glasses of water. The glass with the most water makes a lower sound because it vibrates slower because there is more water in it than the ones that make higher sounds, the one with the least amount of water makes a higher sound because it vibrates faster.
